Gay couple ties the knot at an all-smiles ceremony in Hyderabad
Supriyo Chakraborty from Kolkata and Abhay Dang from Delhi tied the knot at a resort in Hyderabad.

A gay couple from Hyderabad made their relationship official by exchanging rings and tying the knot at a ceremony attended by their family and close friends. The private ceremony was held at a resort located on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Saturday.

Amid much fanfare, the couple — Supriyo Chakraborty (31)and Abhay Dang (34) — held the ceremony where they exchanged rings. The ceremony saw Bengali and Punjabi wedding rituals as Supriyo, a senior faculty member at a prominent hotel management institute, is from Kolkata, and Abhay, an MNC employee, is from Delhi.

The couple has been into an eight-year-long relationship and has now officially become ‘husband and husband’. The ceremony was officiated by a transvestite person, Sophia David, from Hyderabad.

“Spent a rather different evening today. Attended a gay marriage at a resort close to Hyderabad between a faculty member of the Institute of Hotel Management and a senior manager of Amazon. The marriage vows were administered by a former manager of Deloitte who is a transvestite. The families of the couple and a large number of their friends were there to witness an event that reflected how India is changing slowly but surely,” said senior journalist Kingshuk Nag, who was a guest at the function.
